Alternative Assets

Investment options beyond traditional domestic stocks and bonds play an important role in Middleton & Company’s investment strategy. Depending upon the specific situation, some of the following assets may be an appropriate addition to client portfolios:

International Investments – Middleton & Company has made a significant commitment to international markets through the purchase of both Exchange Traded Funds (ETFs), which provide an efficient vehicle to access various global investment opportunities, and American Depositary Receipts (ADRs) of foreign-owned companies.

Real Estate – For certain clients, increased real estate exposure may enhance portfolio diversification, particularly in international markets. Either specific Real Estate Investment Trusts (REITs) or REIT Indices may provide the desired asset exposure.

Sector/Style Funds – In order to access investment styles or themes that are outside of our core investment strategies, we may seek additional diversification through the use of style-specific funds.

Private Equity – In specific client situations, it may be appropriate to consider longer duration, less liquid investment opportunities, such as private equity, to provide additional long-term return potential.
